There's a Joe Brainard like-charm at work in Kevin Sampsell's poetry and collages. Sophisticated and witty, the juxtaposition of imagery is startling and beautiful. Though the pieces are separate, they combine to form a narrative pull into Kevin's world. Max Ernst, John Stezaker, and others are faint memories of past collages, but Sampsell adds his elegant touch to the form. He's a master in his chosen field. His poems add that extra spice as well. - Tosh Berman
