beautifully said - have you heard the recordings of Bobby's first band The Orkustra, and their first attempt at the theme in 1967? Recorded in or around the Haight. It's included one some re-releases of the soundtrack https://youtu.be/5YdW2P6vuyg?si=9E1_KpGjZNChx4Dn
really enjoyed your piece! The Orkustra also had David LaFlamme, who took some of their/his songs/melodies with him to his next band, It's a Beautiful Day! Some great treasures in Bobby's discography, I think in that link you'll see a playlist of the tracks he recorded for Lucifer Rising not included in the final soundtrack. Enjoy x
It is always important to completely separate the man from the Artist through whom Eros promotes works of creative beauty even if Thanatos in the man instigated horrific crimes. Does one remember that Caravaggio was a murderer? Does it matter when one is enchanted and inspired by the works he produced? One could go on enumerating great artists who were horrible men. The dreadful modern moralistic tendency to dismiss an artist because of his failings as a human being is in itself reprehensible and deserves to be thoroughly denounced as the Philistine’s temerity rooted in mediocrity…
Listening to Burzum is similar for me. I don't want to admit that it resonated with me deeply, especially before I ended up in detox last time, in 2016. That one is all the worse as my creative output is adjacent to that world. Bobby I have more sympathy for, if that's the word. There's plenty of beloved musicians who have done far worse. When I was taught by Roy Hazelwood of the old FBI Behavioral Unit he told me about a certain Californian rock star who they could never nail, and there was no Dexter to put a stop to it.
Best if it just remains unsaid. It was a serial sexual predator who broke into apts. They never did have the evidence and honestly, Roy was a good guy but he wasn't right about everything. I don't think he was right about Jon Benet. He got his profiling job after he didn't get my grandpa's job when Hoover made things miserable for him so he went to the private sector. These were cops trying to be scientists, which I know something about. So was he right about the 60s rock star? Maybe and I'm almost positive you'll name him in three guesses. Probably one.

I have not! Thank you for the link.

The David LaFlamme connection is fascinating. I only know their big FM radio hit. I believe he passed away very recently.
yeah is a great album, didn't know he was in for murder
You make some good pointies, as I told Lucifer recently... 😅

I agree. Humans are complex souls.

Of course, I’m curious who is that California rock star is. One name came to my mind, from the 1960s. A mystery is always good.
