I do love the pitter-patter of the rain tonight. When there is a scent of moisture in the air, that is the time when I'm happy. The dead bodies throughout this house seem to me like it was from another time or place. What has been done has been done, and I can't cry over spilled milk. I open the owner of this home's laptop and start writing on it. I presume the authorities will read this in due time. I may either check myself out or leave the premise.
Back to the rain. Ever since I was a boy, I felt great comfort in the storm. The more it raged and destroyed, the more my heart was happy. Even the leaks over my bed brought a sense of adventure to my life. Walking through an urban area, I often see homeless people in a cardboard shelter, but you know they are getting soaked. I know what it's like to be wet and in a bed or sleeping area. As a kid, I never wanted to wake up fully, so the rain pitter-patter on my bed till it got soaked. I just stayed in bed and counted the raindrops hitting my forehead. For some odd reason, I never got sick. While walking, I like looking at the wet streets reflecting the lights -like they are dancing on the pavement. The sound of the rain is a beautiful piece of music. Like millions of others, I feel like Gene Kelly in "Singing in the Rain." I want to dance till not only soaked but dead. The end of time, the end of everything -it's blissful to be at that point.
In a few days, a new sheriff will be in the main house. They're going to clean up Dodge and other towns. Sadly, I won't be around much anymore. Neither a lot of people. No pun intended on the folks who lived in this home. One thing I have noticed is that it just takes only one incident to change everything. You can plan. Or you don't plan. Still, having the stars set in a specific position can change one's presence and future. One lesson I have learned is always to lock your door at night. Even the friendliest neighborhoods can have a tragedy take place. It's always shocking. I'm glad I brought the news and not someone else.
Well, I should mozy on. It's getting late. Don't want to bore the fans out there. My hair is still wet from the rain. Before I leave, I'll go to the bathroom, comb my hair into a sweet pompadour, and then go into the night.
Last night - Sunday 19 March- on BBC 6 Music ( the station made very special above all because listeners fought the BBC to keep it on air - you always love best what you fight for it seems ) they had the Now Playing show usually hosted by Tom Robinson but he’s off on tour at the mo.
That’s another great thing about Radio 6 - they have a range of presenters who’ve been there, done it and still are. Even Iggy Pop FFS- another great Sunday show ( back on air in April is Iggy )
Anyway Deb Grant is filling in for Tom and I don’t know her. She’s Irish and I thought maybe she’s an actor because they often have such doing shows- Cillian Murphy is the obvious example here. Can I just say ( and I know I’m still far from the point I plan to make Tosh but trust me I’ll get there. I have taken up a $5 sub to make this comment )
I did look Deb up there and discovered she used to operate under the DJ moniker Anne Frankenstein but dropped that for her real name during lockdown when it all became more about broadcasting rather than live gigs and Anne Frankenstein didn’t feel like a fit anymore. So many ways lockdown affected things and that’s pertinent to me too as you’ll see if you stick with me baby for a thousand years no few more paragraphs...
Deb’s guest on the show was Daniel Avery, whom I remembered from the legendary Tardis Studios in Clerkenwell, London ( now there’s a tale or two but not now ). I tweeted in to say this and Deb read that out straight after Diesel Power by The Prodigy which kinda fitted as Tardis was right beside Farringdon train station.
It’s a strange and yes lovely feeling to hear your name read out on the radio, especially when it’s not your “Christian” name but one you’ve adopted like Tam instead of Thomas or Tosh instead of...? Or Anne Frankenstein.
So I then realised the show was about electronic collaborations and I tweeted again my favourite such collaboration which was a direct consequence of lockdown between myself and George T. We put four tracks out and this was the lead one and it’s all about my relationship with rain and that’s why I’m writing this and I don’t know if it allows links and I think now I maybe mixed up Daniel Avery with someone else anyway and they didn’t play it so there we have it.
Thanks if you’re still here. All the best Tosh ( my mother-in-law’s ((if we’d married)) maiden name is Tosh )
Have a great Monday. It’s rainy in Glasgow...
