Jerry Stahl is an amazing writer, and a great presence in pop culture. It's wonderful that we are somewhere in his Nowhereville column.
One of the many great things about visiting Tokyo is coming upon various photobooks by Japanese photographers/artists. Anne Murayama is a great gateway to that world. And her writing has a lot of warmth, which is always needed on our chilly days.
I know Jim, but I recommend his Substack page because he is very focused on the printed paper - whatever it is a zine or bounded book. I trust his taste!
What is there not to admire about Damon Krukowski? A superb musician, songwriter, and legendary publisher (along with his fellow Naomi Yang). Damon discusses the music business and world music, but his writing is also excellent. If you love music, fear the music business, and appreciate great poetry, definitely read him. You won't be disappointed.
I have read Catherine Lacey's writings on Substack, but also her novel "Biography of X" which I thought was pretty magnificent. I plan to read her other novels, but I do recommend reading her thoughts, writings, etc here on Substack. A perfect meeting between creativity and charm. Enjoy!
Prince Stash is a key figure in pop music culture. As the son of the always fascinating artist Balthus, he seems to be bigger than his legend. But Prince Stash is real, and he's amazing. A man of taste, it's always a pleasure to have Stash show us his world. The son of the legendary artist Balthus, he appears larger than life. But Prince Stash exists, and he's terrific.
