These are my favorite albums that I purchased in 2023. Most are older titles, but I don’t listen to current 2023 music. Most of the music down below is new to me. Goodies. Someone told me recently that I post Boomer content and I was like, "Wait WUT?"
They meant it in a good way, but it felt like, "OK, Boomer."
I do keep up with recent artists. I love hyperpop like Charlie XCX, or hyperpop-adjacent like Caroline Polachek who is awesome! On the other hand, I have spent last week binging a crazy funny Beatles podcast, "Untitled Beatles Podcast." The hosts are not afraid to bash the excesses of the Fab 4. But with love. Love you Tosh!!
I think for me each decade has an unique sound, and I'm stil searching out the sound of 1966. A sound in 1966 is very different from a sound produced in 2023. This is not a good or bad thing, but more of how a decade has their own sounds. I plan to check out contemporary music for my Substack page in 2024. And I'm seriously thinking of writing a review on the new Stones album!
o great! When u get a chance, listen to the "new" Beatles song Now and Then. The "now" part definitely has today's digital, compressed recording sound. I wonder what you'd think

I like the song. I thought the McCartney guitar solo was kind of in bad taste. And the video is off putting as well. But a good tune!
