Our only overlap is Lydia Davis (though my wife just finished Bluebeard's Castle, which I'll start in on soon). You also introduced me to Brian Dillon this year - I started with Essayism, which I loved. Hopscotch I read about 20 minutes ago and was just as perplexed then as I feel I'd be now. Thank you for putting so many of these books on my radar over the course of this year - I hope to find my way through them over time!

None of the books I’ve read this year, but all I know I would enjoy reading, too.

I am reading Hopscotch now. It seems so immediately familiar.

Your list was so much better than the New York Times best 10 books of the year. Their focus on mainstream cuts out all the interesting writers until they're dead, or just about to die.

Whew!

What a great list. I’ve read most of Remembrance of things Past, and Hopscotch Lydia Davis but there’s so much more here to wrap my imagination around. Thanks, as always Tosh.
