Just watched it. Wow, what a film—so strange, funny, sad, beautiful, disquieting, and philosophical. I loved the look of it with the still camera shots, wide angle photography, exaggerated perspective, soft shadows and pale, muted color. Reminiscent of paintings by Vermeer or Odd Nerdrum maybe.
And I enjoyed the spare but effective use of music. I Shazamed “Shimmy Doll” by Ashley Beaumont which is a great little song. This film is defiantly a unique and wonderful work of art. Thanks for the recommendation! Oh and my wife didn’t hate it, but I don’t think she enjoyed quite as much as I did. I think it was a bit too dark for her taste.
I also loved the glacial disturbing comedy of that Pigeon film!
I need to see more of his films. The Pigeon film works!
OK guys, I’m going to watch the Pigeon film tonight. Sounds like the feel good movie of the year, but If my wife hates it I’m blaming you two.
I don't think you and your wife will be disappointed. It's kind of uplifting in its own manner. And very funny!
