Thanks! Whew, lots of books and many I have read or have read another book by an author you list here. It’s overwhelming, not enough time too many books to read before I die. Thanks so much for this list!

I think I can dig Dirty Real. Huston's Fat City has to be in there...

I should have pointed out that the list is in order, not in quality, but what I read in order. I have read 115 books so far this year. And I went back to January 2024 and then onward. I have two Jeremy Cooper books on the list because I read one after the other. You are near Dennis's (Cooper) book because I read yours before, etc. Huysmans book is fascinating. Art criticism hasn't changed much from the French 1800s to art criticism today - except for political and social/cultural manners. But Huysmans was/is a wonderful art critic. And his criticism reads well. And yes, on Joy Williams. That book above is a must-read.

And I thought I was and adventurous reader! Your list is so impressive. Cover design on many of your choices is superb! One question: on your list what book would you recommend the most? I'll pick it up and read it next year, Tosh!

Ricky tell me your taste in book reading. Once I know that, I can recommend a title from this list.

I tend to like books that are written clearly and have a good sense of place. Genre doesn't matter.

I feel all the above books are excellent. But two books on my list came to mind when reading your preference: "Minor Detail" by Adania Shibli and Izumi Suzuki's "Set My Heart on Fire." Minor Detail deals with Palestine, which I think everyone should read, and Suzuki really captures the Shinjuku, Tokyo experience (especially with Japanese Rock music) in the 1970s.

Excellent advice. I'll try them both, Tosh. Thank you!
