Tosh, doesn't seem to be much live stuff around before 1968, the bootlegs are mostly soundtracks from tv shows and docs. I see a Small Faces live set has been excavated, so there is hope at least that something will one day materialise. Otherwise there are the reports in the press like this one from Melody Maker, July 1966:
'The Who have a kind of bizarre science-fiction appeal – electronically violent, deafeningly strident, all rather removed from reality. There is no other group on the current scene remotely like them. . . there was a sort of sensual excitement about the performance – this in spite of the group’s doleful, deadpan expressions.' Complete review is on my blog: https://www.peterstanfield.com/blog
Good to know Peter! Readers, do check out Peter's blog, but also his wonderful book on The Who called A Band with Built-in Hate: The Who from Pop Art to Punk. The best book on The Who!
